If you find yourself in Nice, France between now and May 31st 2010 (lucky you if you do) check out Robert De Niro Sr.'s exhibit at the The Matisse Museum. We all know the famous actor but apparently his father was an incredible artist who passed away in 1993. The exhibit was put together by Robert De Niro Jr. to honor his father and spotlights photographs, oil paintings and black & white drawings with stumping. The museum's goal is to continue to educate the public about Matisse's work and is using this collection to spotlight the master "as a source of inspiration." I guess some serious talent runs in this family and I think it's wonderful for a son to honor his father in this way, if you go let me know!!
